I generally dislike car commercials. Why? Because they are generally all the same: Cars shown driving through rough terrain portraying strength, durability, precision, speed, endless features, etc.
As a marketer interested in automotive advertising, I am disappointed to admit that after watching most car commercials, I don’t recall the brand. Now that’s bad. I intend to work on luxury car branding at some point in my ad career, and hope to help change that. In the meantime, there are a few tv spots that have impressed me in the past year or so as they have challenged the mold of ‘traditional’ auto commercials.
What the spots below have in common is that instead of a focusing on the car, they focus on what the car can do for the consumer.
Cadillac CTS TV Spot
Audi A4 “Progress is Beautiful” TV Spot
Prius “Harmony” TV Spot
Audi Q5 “Identity Theft” TV Spot
