When in advertising, we watch for the ads. My favorites of 2012.

Chrystler – It’s Halftime in America
Gotta love Clint Eastwood. Gotta love the inspirational message.

Telefloral – Give
A simple message every man should listen to. And how could you not, coming from Adriana Lima? Betting Victoria’s Secret wished they were on the end tag of this spot.

Bud Light – Factory
This made me want to drink a bud light. Effective.

BMW – Digital Shorts
Of course, we’re pretty excited the BMW dealerships loved the KBS+ digital shorts so much that a few of the dealers pooled their ad budgets to purchase regionalized air time for The Big Grab and The Close Call spots. And that Cadillac directly called BMW the best.

M&M’s and Doritos had pretty memorable commercials too.

Fabulous ad by Tiffany. It absolutely makes you desire the moment. The legendary stairs in Central Park. A light dazzling snow. The stilettos (because of course every girl walks through Central Park in heels in the winter with bare legs). The signature blue box with a big white bow. It’s unrealistic nature makes it oh so magical. Desire indeed.

I recently watched Art & Copy. It’s a documentary about the business I live and breath on daily: advertising. I have to say, it inspired me. As George Lois once said, “Great advertising makes food taste better. Makes cars run better. It changes the perception of things.” It reminded me that while advertising can deviously be about increased influence, desire and ROI — that it can also simultaneously be about moving people. And not only one person, but entire movements of people. And when that happens … ahhh, bliss.

Scary. Exciting.

Love it.
