I would say that 99% of the time, Bed Bath & Beyond emails that land in my account get deleted before ever being opened. In fact, I couldn’t even tell you why I’m signed up for BB&B emails (they probably made me supply my email at point of sale sometime years ago and I never got around to unsubscribing). This particular email, though, proves that subject line content really can beg the viewer to open. (Of course I need to disclaim this by saying I’m a marketer and pay attention to this type of thing). Nonetheless, I found the subject of this email to be most entertaining and interesting due to it’s presumptuous nature. I opened the email purely to see if what drew me in actually matched the content within. This email was about aerobed inflatable mattresses. Snooze. While I’m not in need, I did open the email. Good job, subject line copywriter.
